For over 20 years, Stealth Black Belt Academy has been more than just a martial arts school, it’s been a family. Built on discipline, respect, and a relentless drive to improve, we’ve grown into the area’s leading academy, setting the benchmark that others… still can’t quite reach.

Our journey hasn’t been without challenges. We’ve faced a financial crisis, the departure of valued instructors, and even a global pandemic that kept our doors shut for 18 months. Lesser schools might have faded away, but with each challenge, we’ve come back stronger. Today, we’re not just recovered, we’re bigger, sharper, and more innovative than ever, with a community spirit that’s impossible to copy.

Over the years, we’ve celebrated countless achievements, from beginner belts to awarding over 50 + black belts, we’ve trained World and European and countless British Champions. We’ve shared moments of joy, friendship, and triumph. We’ve also experienced the bittersweet goodbyes when cherished members or instructors moved on. Some have even tried to replicate what we do. We take that as the highest compliment. But the truth is, Stealth has something that can’t be copied: the “X factor” a unique blend of expertise, energy, and community spirit that is woven into every class and every student’s journey.

We never stand still. We’re always improving, always innovating, and always one step ahead of the competition. That’s why, for the past 20 years, we’ve been at the forefront of martial arts excellence, and why we’ll still be leading from the front for the next 20.

Stealth isn’t just about kicks and punches. It’s about resilience, ambition, and a community that thrives together. We’ve been the leaders in the UK for two decades, we’re here to stay, and the future? It’s Red, Black, White, and unmistakably Stealth. Our past is built on strength and perseverance; our future is built on ambition and excellence.

For the next 20 years and beyond, Stealth Black Belt Academy will continue to lead from the front, shaping champions, building confidence, and inspiring the next generation.

And that’s exactly what we’ve been doing at Stealth for the past 20 years.

Stealth has never just been about martial arts. It’s been about developing people, helping young kids grow into confident teens, and confident teens become capable adults. Many of our black belts have gone on to become instructors, mentors, and role models, not just in the dojo, but in life.

One of our core beliefs is simple but powerful:

For martial arts to truly evolve, each generation must be better than the last.

That means constantly raising the bar, in technique, attitude, discipline, and leadership. And that only happens when we actively invest in the next wave of talent, giving them the tools and the space to grow.

We don’t just teach kicks and punches, we teach confidence, resilience, and leadership. That’s the Stealth legacy. And it’s been an honour to watch it grow for over two decades.

Because real legacy isn’t measured in medals, it’s in the lives we shape and the leaders we help develop.

We’ve all been there…

You just got the kids to bed. Work was a marathon. The laundry’s still staring at you, and honestly — the idea of putting your feet up sounds so much better than putting gloves on…

“I’m too tired.”
“It’s been a long day.”
“I’ll go tomorrow instead.”

Sound familiar?

We get it. Life doesn’t slow down, and you’ve got a lot on your plate. But here’s the honest truth:

👉 Your goals won’t wait for your life to calm down — and neither should you.

Let’s be real: motivation isn’t consistent. If you wait until you feel like training, you’ll miss out on weeks of potential progress…

Discipline is what carries you through when motivation disappears…

The students who show up regardless of how they feel are the ones who make real progress; belts aren’t earned on the good days alone; they’re earned on the tough ones too…

The best way to stay on track? Build a routine!

Think of your training routine as a map to your goals. Without it, you’re wandering — sometimes showing up, sometimes not, and wondering why things aren’t changing…

✅ Routine builds discipline.

✅ Discipline builds progress.

✅ Progress gets RESULTS.

The more you stick to it, the easier it becomes. Eventually, it’s not “Should I train today?” It’s “What time am I heading in?”

Let’s be honest, there are days you feel completely spent…
The school run. Meetings. Cooking dinner. Life.

But here’s the thing: those are the days that matter most…

When you show up tired, stressed, or unmotivated — and you do it anyway — you’re proving something powerful to yourself. You’re showing that your goals are bigger than your excuses…

That’s growth.
That’s commitment.
That’s what we call the Black Belt Mindset, and it applies far beyond martial arts. It’s the same mindset that will carry you through exams, job interviews, personal setbacks, and everything in between…

At Stealth, we’re not just teaching kicks and punches. We’re helping you build a stronger, more resilient version of YOU…

But that version doesn’t appear by accident. You have to work for it, class after class, choice after choice…

So, the next time you're tempted to stay in, ask yourself:

"Will this excuse get me to my goals, or is it just delaying them?"

Then tie your belt…
Step onto the mats…
And take that next step forward — even if it's a small one…

Because progress doesn’t happen on its own,
it happens when you show up, even when you don’t want to, and put in the effort.

We’ve all been there, the moaning, the dragging feet, the “Do I have to go?” routine. Getting your child off the tablet or console and out to their sports club can feel like a full-blown battle. It’s exhausting, and you might find yourself wondering if it’s even worth the fight.

But trust me, it is. Every time you push through that resistance, you’re doing more than just getting them to a class. You’re helping shape their mindset for life.

When we let children quit at the first sign of difficulty, we unintentionally teach them that it’s OK to walk away when things get hard. But life doesn’t work like that. Challenges, setbacks, and tough days are part of the journey, and learning to face them head-on is one of the most valuable life skills you can give a child.

Here at Stealth, I’ve been teaching martial arts to young people in this community for over 20 years. And I’ve seen first-hand what sticking with it can lead to. The kids who earn their black belts, who push through the tough days, who turn up even when they don’t feel like it, often go on to achieve amazing things.

Some now run their own successful businesses. Others have built fantastic careers. And two of those once-moaning kids? They now have PhDs after their names.

It doesn’t happen overnight. But the values we instil, discipline, resilience, confidence, carry far beyond the mats.

So on those hard days, when it feels easier to just let them stay home, remember: you’re not just winning today’s battle. You’re shaping their future. One class at a time.

Ladies Only Kickboxing offers more than just a workout, it creates space for women to move, grow, and challenge themselves without judgement. For many, traditional gyms or mixed classes can feel intimidating. Kickboxing in a female-only environment removes that pressure. No egos, no competition, just a group of women supporting each other, working at their own pace.

One of the key reasons kickboxing is so effective is because it uses the whole body. You’re not just burning calories, you’re building strength, improving balance, and boosting cardiovascular fitness. And it’s not about being a certain shape or size. Women of all backgrounds and fitness levels can take part, and progress is measured in personal wins, not how you compare to someone else.

But the real power of kickboxing is in what it does for your mind. Striking pads or learning new combinations can be incredibly therapeutic. It sharpens focus, relieves stress, and boosts energy levels, often in just a single session. Over time, that translates into better sleep, improved mood, and a stronger sense of self-worth.

Confidence grows too, not just in how you look, but in how you carry yourself. Knowing you’re capable of defending yourself, holding your ground, and staying calm under pressure is empowering. For many women, that confidence spills into other parts of life, work, relationships, even parenting.

So whether you’re trying to regain fitness, prepare for a holiday, or simply feel more like yourself again, Ladies Only Kickboxing can offer a safe, uplifting, and genuinely effective path forward. It’s not about perfection, it’s about progress. And that’s a goal worth fighting for.

🛡️ Men in Your 40s or 50s – This Is Your Wake-Up Call 🛡️

If you're a man in your 40s or 50s, chances are life’s got you busy. Work, family, responsibilities, your spinning plates. And more often than not, your own health and fitness are the first to get sidelined. That’s where martial arts comes in. Not just any martial arts, the Stealth Black Belt Academy way.

I’ve been coaching for over four decades. In that time, I’ve helped kids become Black Belts, watched them grow into adults, and now, here’s the special part, I’m coaching their kids. That kind of generational trust doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from building something real, something consistent, something that works.

So why should you, an adult man in his 40s or 50s, consider training with us?

1. No Two Classes the Same

We’ve never repeated the same class in 20 years. That’s not a marketing line, that’s a promise. Our sessions are constantly varied. One day it’s pad work, the next it’s bodyweight drills, plyometric training, resistance work or rounds on the bags. This variety keeps your body guessing, your mind sharp, and boredom nowhere to be found.

2. You’ll Get Fitter, Stronger, Leaner

The physical results speak for themselves. Expect better cardiovascular health, more strength, improved endurance, and greater flexibility and mobility. Carrying a few extra pounds? You’ll drop them. Feeling like you’ve lost your edge? You’ll get it back. But here’s the thing: you’re not just getting fit, you’re learning a skill. A skill that could one day protect you, your partner, your children. This isn’t just about looking better, it’s about being ready.

3. Mental Resilience, Real Confidence

This stage of life comes with its own stresses. Our training builds more than muscle. It builds grit. Focus. A sense of calm under pressure. That mental toughness you thought you’d lost? It’s still there, you just need the right training to bring it back. It’s not therapy, but some days it might feel like it.

4. Self-Defence That Matters

Let’s be blunt. In today’s world, knowing how to protect yourself and your loved ones isn’t just useful, it’s essential. What we teach at Stealth isn’t sport for sport’s sake. It’s practical, effective, and rooted in real-world self-defence. You’re not just hitting pads. You’re learning how to defend your home, your family, and yourself if the worst ever happens. That kind of confidence? It’s priceless.

5. The Stealth Community – Our Secret Weapon

Our community is what sets us apart. We’re not a gym. We’re a tribe. Others have tried to copy it, but as I like to say, a fake watch is still a fake watch. There’s nothing quite like the real McCoy. We train hard, we support each other, we hold each other accountable. That’s why so many of our adult students have been with us for 10, 15, even 20 years. You’ll walk in as a new face, but you won’t stay that way for long.

6. A Legacy Worth Building

I’ve coached over 50 Black Belts. That’s a big number. But what really hits home is seeing the next generation come through the door, the children of students I taught decades ago. That’s not just martial arts. That’s legacy. That’s trust. That’s Stealth.

So if you’re in your 40s or 50s and thinking your best days are behind you, think again. Your strongest, sharpest, most capable self could be waiting for you on the mats at Stealth.

Whether this is your first step into martial arts or a return after years away, now’s the time. And this is the place.

See you on the mats.

In a world full of distractions, instant gratification, and endless choices, commitment is fast becoming a lost art. And yet, it remains one of the most important qualities any person, young or old, can develop.

As someone who’s been involved in martial arts for over 40 years, I often reflect on how the lessons learned on the mats go far beyond self-defence or physical fitness. The dojo is a classroom for life, a place where discipline, respect, perseverance, and most importantly, commitment, are taught not just in theory, but in practice.

The Culture of Quitting

Today, we live in a society where it’s easier than ever to move on the moment things get difficult. Faced with a challenge, many young people are encouraged, even expected, to give up and try something new. And while exploring different interests is part of growing up, constantly walking away from difficulty does more harm than good.

It’s not uncommon for me to hear parents say, “My child just isn’t interested anymore, so we’re going to try them with something else.” But would that same logic apply if their child decided they weren’t interested in school anymore? Unlikely. In that situation, we’d explain the value of sticking with it, of working through the challenges, and of seeing things through, because we understand the long-term benefit.

So why don’t we apply the same thinking to other aspects of life, like sport, music, or martial arts? Why do we allow quitting to become the default response to adversity?

Commitment Is a Skill

At Stealth, where I taught martial arts for over 20 years, I’ve helped guide over 50 young students to earn their Junior Black Belts, with another five well on track to achieve theirs this year. That journey doesn’t happen overnight. It takes five, six, sometimes seven years of regular training, hard work, setbacks, frustration, and, crucially, perseverance.

These young people have all faced moments when quitting would have been easier. But they didn’t quit. And the result? They’ve not only achieved something very few their age can claim, but they’ve also developed life skills that will stay with them forever.

They are physically fit, emotionally resilient, and socially confident. They make good decisions, they’re not easily led by peer pressure, and they can stand up in front of a room of adults and lead with presence and authority. These aren’t just good students, they’re young leaders in the making.

Creating the Right Environment

Children learn by example and by experience. If we want them to grow into strong, capable adults, we must surround them with environments that reinforce values like discipline, consistency, and responsibility. We must encourage them not just to try new things, but to stick with them when the going gets tough.

At Stealth, that’s the culture we’ve worked hard to build. We don’t just teach kids how to kick and punch, we teach them how to persevere, how to stay the course, and how to grow from failure. And we celebrate the journey just as much as the result.

Because true growth doesn’t come from hopping between activities or looking for the next easy win. It comes from committing to something meaningful, pushing through the hard parts, and emerging stronger on the other side.

A Brighter Future

The young people I work with have bright futures, not because they’re exceptional by nature, but because they’ve developed exceptional habits. Habits of commitment. Habits of resilience. Habits of showing up.

And in a world where those habits are becoming rare, they stand out for all the right reasons.

🥋🎉 STEALTH BLACK BELT ACADEMY – 20 YEARS STRONG! 🎉🥋

20 years ago today, I opened the doors to Stealth Black Belt Academy for the very first time. Back then, we had just a handful of students in each class, but what started as a dream has grown into one of the biggest Martial Arts clubs in the UK! 🇬🇧💥

💪 Over 10,000 families have walked through our doors. They’ve trained, grown, and become part of something bigger – our #StealthFamily. Once you step on our mats, you’re one of us for life! 🥋🔥

I’m incredibly proud of the legacy we’ve built. My sons Kieran Smith & Kai Smith (who wasn’t even born when we started!) and my adopted ‘daughter’ Nikki Hughes, who leads our Hathern Centre, are now leading the charge to take Stealth to even greater heights. Together, we’re continuing our mission: “Building Better Adults, One Black Belt at a Time.”

🚀 It hasn’t always been easy. We’ve faced ups and downs, from the Global Financial Crisis of 2008, to recessions, to Covid lockdowns, but we’ve always met our challenges head on. We were the first of our kind in the area, and we’re still leading the way. We’re still here, still growing, and still pushing forward. Innovation has been the key to our success, and even though I’m no longer at the helm, that will never change!

🙏 A massive THANK YOU to every student, parent, and supporter who has been part of this journey. You are the heart of Stealth, and without you, we wouldn’t be celebrating this milestone today.
Here’s to the next 20 years of excellence, resilience, and Black Belt success! 🥋💪

As parents, we want nothing but the best for our children. We work hard to provide them with opportunities that promote growth, development, and well-roundedness. While martial arts might conjure images of high-flying kicks and powerful punches, it offers much more than just physical activity.

Martial arts is an excellent choice for kids and how it can benefit them in various aspects of life. Here's why:

1. Discipline and Respect:

One of the fundamental principles of martial arts is discipline. Children learn to follow instructions, adhere to a structured routine, and show respect to our instructors and fellow students. These lessons extend beyond the training mat and become essential life skills that can benefit them in school, at home, and in their interactions with others.

2. Self-Confidence:

Confidence is a quality that can positively impact every area of a child's life. Through martial arts, children set goals, work diligently to achieve them, and celebrate their successes along the way. As they progress through the ranks and earn belts, their self-esteem soars, empowering them to tackle challenges with newfound assurance.

3. Physical Fitness:

In an age where screen time competes with outdoor play, martial arts provide a fun and engaging way for children to stay physically active. The movements involved in martial arts improve flexibility, coordination, balance, and strength, promoting overall health and fitness.

4. Focus and Concentration:

The techniques and forms taught at Stealth require a high level of concentration. Children learn to focus their attention on the task at hand, sharpening their ability to concentrate on academic endeavours and other activities.

5. Conflict Resolution:

Martial arts emphasise non-violence and teach children to use their skills responsibly. They learn that physical confrontation should be a last resort, and they gain the tools to handle conflicts peacefully and confidently.

6. Friendship and Social Skills:

Martial arts classes are an excellent place for children to meet others who share similar interests. Working together on techniques, practicing sparring, and supporting each other's progress fosters camaraderie and teamwork, helping children develop essential social skills.

Enrolling your child in martial arts classes at Stealth Fitness Centre is not just about learning self-defense; it's about equipping them with valuable life skills that will benefit them for years to come. From discipline and self-confidence to physical fitness and social development, the advantages of martial arts are comprehensive and enduring.

So, why wait? Give your child the gift of martial arts and watch them grow into confident, disciplined, and resilient young warriors.

At Stealth Fitness Centre, we offer specialised martial arts programs designed to cater to the unique needs of children. Our experienced instructors are dedicated to nurturing your child's potential, both on and off the mat. Join us on this exciting journey to empower your child with the skills they need to succeed in life.
